I recently did a product photography shoot for Vertical Magazine – the best produced magazine in the helicopter business. These images were created for their Gadgets & Gear column, written by Nick Gagnon, a Canadian helicopter pilot and writer.

I shot the photos on 500 hex-shaped nuts (it took far longer than you might think to line those all up!) and used some pretty strong side/back lighting, shooting a couple of Nikon SB-800 flashes through improvised strip-boxes. I also used a couple of silver reflector cards for fill lighting.
